Gonzales on Antitrust

I am listening right now to the confirmation hearings for Alberto Gonzales as Attorney General,  and in response to a question on telecom mergers, the candidate responded that competition in telecom is important and stated that he would like to be educated more by experts in the field.  In response to a more specific question about the telecom industry, Gonzales said he would need to learn more about the issues before responding.

Samsung's antitrust war chest

In response to a Department of Justice investigation of price fixing in the market for memory prices, South Korean company Samsung reportedly has put aside a $ 100million to cover potential DoJ fines.  Infineon and Micron have already confessed to being involved in a price fixing conspiracy; Infineon has been fined $ 160 million for its involvement.
