I met Don in Billings when he, Toni Serra, Palmer, Mark, and others were on the Rasta case. Ironically he was to be my small group teacher at the NCDC in Macon in 1994. We spoke on the phone a few days before he went to FLA in late winter or early spring of 2008. I hadn't heard he passed on until John Katz called me about a month ago. (I met John at the Spence TLC in 1995.) Don was my friend. He was a precious gift. I learned so much from him about being a real lawyer and a real person. I feel blessed to have seen him do his one man show of Clarence Darrow and William Jennings Bryant. First time I saw him do Darrow was at Macon in 2004. He moved me to tears when he was talking to Jessie--his (Darrow's) wife. I got to see him to WJB in Lincoln then visit the WJB museum in Lincoln. The planet feels a bit empty without him. It's hard to believe he's gone. The only bad thing I can say about Don is he would cry a little to loud at sad movies. (smile)There's a big hole in my heart. I am sending my love to all of you at NCDC who loved him so much, to Michelle, his son David and especially to little McKenzie. Namaste. Lisa Swanson, po box 1234 helena, montana 59601
