As I have previously discussed, a recent UBS Investor Watch report surveyed individuals about their estate planning strategies and feelings about inheritance. In addition to satisfaction with the decisions made by family members decreasing for those who are not informed prior to the family member’s death, satisfaction decreased from 83% to 56% when comparing nuclear families to blended families. Also, a majority of heirs say they will make different decisions than their parents or other family members did, even though only a third reported wishing their parents’ decisions were different than they were.
