Recent Shift in Estate Planning Focus

Income TaxThe focus of estate planning is changing. Trends toward concentrating more on reducing income taxes over estate taxes are growing, and income tax considerations are playing a larger role in estate planning. This shift is attributed in part to significant changes in estate and income tax laws, which make income tax considerations more noteworthy to estate planners.

See E. Hans Lundsten et al., Adapting to the Times: Estate Planning Focus Shifts to Income Taxes, June 3, 2014.
