California Appeals Court Allows Jason Patric to Bring Parental Rights Case
As I have previously discussed, movie star Jason Patric is in a heated custody battle and appealing a lower court decision that terminated his parental rights. The lower court terminated Patric’s parental rights, denying him visitation of his son, reasoning that since he donated sperm so that his ex-girlfriend Danielle Schreiber could conceive through in-vitro fertilization that made him a “sperm donor” under state law and he did not have parental rights. A California appeals court judge ruled that the definition should not be applied so strictly and that Patric should be allowed to demonstrate that he is the father and not only a sperm donor. This decision gives Patric the ability to go to court and seek his parental rights.
