Socialite Charged With Murder for Allegedly Having Ex-Husband Killed for Life Insurance Policy

Broken heartAlmost 20 years ago, Gary Triano was killed by a car bomb and now his ex-wife, Pamela Phillips, has been charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder for allegedly hiring the man responsible for Triano’s death. Ronald Young was convicted of the murder of Triano in 2010.

Prosecutors are presenting Phillips as a woman who got use to the socialite life she lived while married to Triano, and when he lost his fortune she divorced him and hired Young, her ex-boyfriend, to kill Triano so she could collect on his $2 million life insurance policy. However, Phillips’ lawyers claim that she had no reason to arrange the death of her ex-husband because she had her own wealth, and that Triano made enemies through his risky financial dealings and a former business partner may have been seeking revenge.
