Infographic on Death

Campbell-ed01-537x365

The Business of Death is a fascinating infographic found on LifeHealthPro.

A few of the interesting facts include:

  • The yearly death rate for the world’s population is 55.3 million, which means about 2 people die every second.
  • The most common methods of burial are cremation and interment; others choose to turn their bodies into artificial reefs, shoot their ashes into space, or have a traditional Tibetan Sky Burial.
  • The average North American funeral costs between $7,000 and $10,000, the most expensive cost being the casket at $2,300.
  • Your body could possibly be harvested for over $800,000.

Death is one of the most interesting topics but many people choose to avoid discussing it. Death can be painful because of losing a loved-one, but it is also a known fact that sometimes the burden becomes greater when the people dealing with grief and loss also have to worry about the expenses that come with one's demise. Sad but true.
