A recent Harris Interactive for Martindale-Hubbell survey revealed that more 50% of Americans pass away without an estate plan. Estate planners are hoping that people add estate planning as part of their New Year's resolution or at least consider the following:
- Provide instructions on the preferred disposition of your remains
- Draft written instructions on the type of memorial service you prefer
- Create an outline of the obituary and other notices for when you pass
- Make sure to leave your instructions in a place that can be easily accessible to a person you trust
