Marotta to Appeal

As I have previously discussed, William Marotta, of Topeka, has been declared the presumptive father of a child born to a same-sex couple, making him potentially liable for child support.

Marotta said he plans on appealing the decision. He argues that he signed a sperm-donation agreement waiving his parental responsibilities.  Marotta also stated he is "almost" ready to go to jail rather than pay child support if it is to be ordered.

See Michael Winter, Kansas Sperm Donor to Appeal Ruling Over Children, USA Today, Jan. 24, 2014.

Special thanks to Laura Galvan (Attorney, San Antonio, Texas) for bringing this article to my attention.
