The American Bar Association is sponsoring a live webinar entitled, Fundamentals of Family Caregiver Agreements: Taking Care of Those Who Care for Others, on Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Provided below is a description of the event:
It is increasingly common for individuals to be paid to provide in-home care for persons needing assistance to live independently. The agreement to pay needs to be in writing and effective caregiver agreements are more than fill in the blank forms. Caregiver agreements need to clearly reflect expectations, and conditions of payment need to comply with Medicaid, tax and employment laws. Well written agreements can be invaluable in avoiding conflicts between family members over payment of care and services.

- Participants will explore the essential elements that need to be considered in drafting caregiver agreements.
- Participants will understand the importance of written caregiver agreements in complying with employment, tax and Medicaid laws.
- Participants will learn the role of written agreements in conflicts between family members regarding payment for care and services.
