Former hand surgeon Michael Brown passed away on November 7 at age 56. Brown had suffered a heart attack on October 24 at his Miami Beach home.
Brown was famous for appearing in a series of commercials with his family advertising the Brown Hand Center, his string of carpal tunnel clinics across the country. In 2001, Brown went from being a prosperous hand surgeon to a punchline after being sued by his third wife for beating her with a bedpost while she was seven months pregnant. The ensuing litigation exposed a history of violence and self-medication.
In 2011, Brown’s fourth wife accused him of assault of which he was later acquitted. Brown was still in the midst of divorcing her when he passed. It is still unclear how the divorce and probate will be resolved.
