Tennessee Sued for Not Recognizing Same-Sex Marriage

Four same-sex couples have filed a federal lawsuit against Tennessee, arguing the state’s refusal to recognize their legal marriages from other states violates their constitutional rights.

The couples claim they deserve the same rights as opposite-sex married couples in Tennessee.  The couples hope to have their marriages recognized in Tennessee so they can proceed with the next step, which is having same-sex marriage legalized in Tennessee.
