The New York Times recently interviewed Bill and Melinda Gates. A good portion of the interview was about the Gates' involvement in philanthropy. In 2012, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation gave $3.4 billion dollars to charity efforts worldwide. Melinda is the foundation’s family planning advocate and the person responsible for administering the foundation's contests.
