Bucks County lawyer Randolph Scott has been indicted for defrauding a client’s estate out of over $1.7 million.
While representing the estate of John C. Bready from 2005 to 2011, Scott allegedly diverted estate funds to his law office accounts. The indictment alleges Scott purposefully failed to file federal estate taxes so there would be enough money to pay beneficiaries and avoid detection.
Scott is also believed to have failed to disclose the death of the estate’s executor in 2009 so the investment account manager would continue sending the executor’s checks to Scott’s office. Scott allegedly forged the executor’s signature on the checks and deposited them into his accounts.
