Macabre Mix-Up

When Jerry Moon’s family opened his casket at his memorial service, they were shocked to find a stranger in his place.

In an apparent funeral home mix-up, Moon, 72, was replaced with the body of a 97-year-old man who died around the same time as Moon at the same hospice care facility.  Instead of being buried, Moon was cremated against his wishes.  Moon’s son says his father was terrified at the thought of being cremated.

The two funeral homes thought to be responsible for the mix-up could face fines, suspensions, or revocation of their licenses.
