Congressman Langevin Explains Involvement in Caramadre Scheme

Langevin

As I have previously discussed, last year Joseph Caramadre pleaded guilty to a scheme which targeted the terminally ill.  Now, Rhode Island Congressman Jim Langevin is trying to explain why he profited from this scheme.

Langevin is one of many public officials appearing on Caramadre’s list of investors.  Langevin says he loaned money to a family member, not knowing what its purpose would be.  When the family member repaid the loan, Langevin was given an additional $8,600 as a return on investment.

Langevin donated this money to charity upon learning of Caramadre’s scheme.
