Recently, J.B and H.B, parted ways amicably. The issue in the couples relationship is that J.B. and H.B. are male. The two men were married in the North East in 2006 where same sex marriage has been permitted for the past 9 years. Following their ceremony, the couple moved to Texas and now want to get a divorce.
Unfortunately, divorce is still difficult for couples living in states that do not allow same-sex marriage like Texas. They will have to go to a state that does recognize same-sex marriage and, in many cases, satisfy a residency requirement before getting divorced. Same-sex couples seeking a divorce may also face protracted child-custody battles if a non-biological parent has not adopted the child.
