The parents of baby Messiah went to court because they could not agree on his last name. However, Child Support Magistrate Lu Ann Ballew decided it was his first name that needed changing.
Ballew ordered his name to be changed to Martin, his mother’s surname, saying, “The word ‘Messiah’ is a title and it’s a title that has only been earned by one person and that one person is Jesus Christ.” She believed his name would “put him at odds” with many in the heavily Christian county. The mother has decided to appeal this order.
