The funeral director at Metro Embalming and Crematory, William Ellenberg, is in trouble because he dismembered the body of a woman that could not fit within the company's crematorium. The deceased woman reportedly weighed about 800 pounds. To ensure that she could fit within the crematorium, Ellenberg cut the fatty issue from the back of her legs off. When asked Ellenberg stated that he did not believe that the act was disrespectful. Ellenberg contended that it was necessary to fulfill the wishes of the woman's family. Fortunately for Ellenberg, the actions that he took were not illegal; however, in this type of situation, he most likely needed to obtain permission before he dismembered her body. As a result of his actions, he was suspended by the Georgia State Board of Funeral Services. The order given by the board also contained allegations that he threatened the life of himself and his business partner. Former employees have also come forward to report that they have also seen Ellenberg mistreat other bodies.
