On Tuesday, October 30, 2012, The Real Property, Trust and Estate Law sections of the ABA are hosting a 90 minute CLE entitled Behind The Scenes--Strategies for Dealing With the IRS. The program description is below:
Disputes with the IRS are as inevitable as taxes themselves. Not all cases can be (or should be) resolved at the IRS examination level. Our panel of tax litigators will explain how to evaluate and navigate the various avenues for contesting proposed adverse determinations, including IRS Appeals, alternative dispute resolution, and litigation. The discussion will cover techniques for achieving the best possible settlement within those options, and explore the advantages and disadvantages of the three litigation forums for tax disputes--the U.S. Tax Court, U.S. District Court, and the Court of Federal Claims.
