George Jefferson Still Not Buried
Sherman Hemsley, who played George Jefferson, died
of lung cancer on July 24 at the age of 74. Even though he died over a month ago, he still has not been
buried because there is a dispute over his will. Associated Press described a will that left his estate to a
woman named Flora Enchinton, his friend and manager for over 20 years.
A man named Richard Thornton has come forth, claiming that he is Mr. Hemsley’s brother and that the will may not have been written by the actor. Ms. Enchinton told the Associated Press that Mr. Hemsley never told her he had relatives. She speculates that money might be motivating Thornton’s claim.
