Dying to Donate

Donor A woman in Utah killed herself outside a St. George hospital last week. Moments before shooting herself in the head, the woman called authorities and stated that she wished to donate her organs. It is still unclear whether doctors were able to use the woman’s organs.

This situation is similar to an episode on the television show Desperate Housewives (aired March 6) where a character goes to a hospital to donate her kidney and then shoots herself. A little over a month after the episode first aired, a man shot himself outside of a Mission Viejo hospital. The man left behind a note asking that doctors donate his organs.
