Drew Peterson, a former police officer accused of murdering his third wife and considered a suspect in his fourth wife’s disappearance, had lawyers send a cease and desist letter to Lifetime Entertainment, A&E Television Networks, Disney and other networks after filming began on a made-for-TV movie based on Peterson’s life. The letter states, in part:
Frankly, we are aghast. Beyond the misappropriation of my client's name, identity, persona and likeness for commercial purposes, such a false, misleading and inaccurate movie would not only impute defamatory criminal conduct to my client but serve only to mislead, taint and prejudice any potential jury pool and undermine my client’s fundamental right to a fairtrial.
The networks did not make any immediate comment regarding the letter.
