Edgar Allan Poe Funeral Reenactment

Poe Today, in the city of Baltimore, Edgar Allan Poe will receive a second funeral.  His first funeral, which took place 160 years ago, was attended by less than ten people.  The funeral reenactments today are expected to draw at least 350, an will include a horse drawn carriage, a replica of Poe's deceased body created by a local special-effects artist, and eulogies delivered by actors dressed as Poe's contemporaries and dead writers.

Poe is buried in Baltimore, and the funeral is part of the city's celebration of the 200th anniversary of Poe's birth, previously noted here

For more information, see Ben Nuckals, Edgar Allan Poe finally getting proper funeral, AP, Oct. 6, 2009.
