Tidbits
President Bush has announced the following appellate court nominations:
- Terrence W. Boyle, of North Carolina, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Fourth Circuit
- William James Haynes II, of Virginia, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Fourth Circuit
- William Gerry Myers III, of Idaho, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Ninth Circuit
- Norman Randy Smith, of Idaho, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Ninth Circuit
- Michael Brunson Wallace, of Mississippi, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Fifth Circuit
In addition, the financial reports of the Supreme Court Justices are in. As reported by Tony Mauro over at law.com, the forms show:
Stephen Breyer: $4,125,080-$15,440,000
- John Roberts Jr.: $2,235,063-$5,860,000
- John Paul Stevens: $1,590,018-$3,480,000
- Antonin Scalia: $700,019-$1,595,000
Samuel Alito Jr.: $665,025-$1,740,000
- Clarence Thomas: $150,006-$410,000
- Anthony Kennedy: $65,005-$195,000
The article I thought somewhat unfairly called them a "millionaires club." Given that most are quite senior, these totals seemed comparatively modest.
