No Child Left Behind
Today's New York Times reports that 20 states have sought waivers from certain aspects of the federal No Child Left Behind Act. The requests seek to measure individual student progress over time rather than focusing so heavily on groups of students. The proposals would allow significant reductions in numbers of schools deemed failing under current procedures.
