Dodd Announces Agreement to Drop Industry Liquidation Fund

Senator Dodd announced that he and Senator Shelby have reached agreement to drop the provision calling for an industry-paid fund for future liquidations of financial services firms and, in his words, "With this agreement there can be no doubt that this Senate is unified in its commitment to end taxpayer funded bailouts.”  You will recall that some Republicans made the assertion that this provision would somehow encourage future bailouts.

"Somehow encourage" is inappropriate. You are putatively reporting someone's assertion, which wasn't that it would "somehow" encourage it. So, report that assertion separately, and then, if you can give good reasons why the worry is unfounded, then by all means do so.
