DOJ Started Investigating Goldman Before SEC Action Filed

According to the Washington Post, the Justice Dept. opened a criminal investigation into possible securities fraud violations involving mortgage trading at Goldman Sachs prior to the SEC's filing of its civil action.  It has been widely reported that the SEC referred its case to DOJ for possible criminal violations.  It is not clear if the DOJ is investigating the same ABACUS deal that the SEC action focuses on.  WPost, Justice Department opens Goldman Sachs criminal investigation, sources say.
