Viewing the National Academy Report on Forensic Science
The National Academy of Science has been generating a lot of reports recently on forensic science topics. Its latest, long-delayed, long-awaited effort is the most ambitious. It surveys all fields of forensic science and calls for dramatic reforms in the system of producing forensic science evidence in the U.S. We hope to address specific parts of the report later.
To read most NRC reports, you can go to the National Academy Press website. The Academy advertises that the prepublication forensic science report also is available online for free.
The tab at http://www.nap.edu/catalog.php?record_id=12589#toc promises "Read this book online, free!" It leads to a table of contents. The links there take you to the book's contents, but sometimes they lead to a page that reports that the book is not available online free. I presume that this is a programming glitch and that online access is or soon will be fully functional.
