The Dire Consequences of Global Warming

Excellent, albeit disturbing, article about the receding ice sheets of Greenland and the dire consequences for our world.  See Article Here.   I suspect that generations in the not too distant future will count this as one of the many sorrowful legacies of the Bush administration.

Death Penalty and Mental Illness

Martin Magnusson, over at the ACS blog, has an excellent discussion of the Supreme Court's  decision to grant cert. in the Panetti v. Quaterman case.  See Here.   The Question Presented in the case is as follows:

Does the Eighth Amendment permit the execution of a death row inmate who has a factual awareness of the reason for his execution but who, because of severe mental illness, has a delusional belief as to why the state is executing him, and thus does not appreciate that his execution is intended to seek retribution for his capital crime?
