IRS Developments Cyber Assistant Software
The IRS is developing software to assist new charities in completing Form 1023. The software is currently in the testing phase and should be released sometime in 2010. After its release, the IRS will offer a significantly reduced filing fee to charities that use Cyber Assistant.

Does anyone know when Cyber Assistant will become available? The year is almost half over and I haven't heard any news at all.

The IRS announced on May 7, 2010, that the Cyber Assistant will be delayed. It will not be released this year.

Opps..It is bad news. What are the reason for delaying of IRS Cyber Assistant? What I think that once this software will be developed, It will be very much useful for new Charities.

It is now 2011. Is there any information available as to when Cyber Assistant might be available in this year? The amount is very significant to a small non pofit agency. Pleases advise as to when we might expect to be able to use this.

Here’s the latest on the Cyber Assistant:
The National Taxpayer Advocate’s 12/31/2011 Report to Congress is critical of IRS delays in releasing the Cyber Assistant and recommends that Congress require the IRS to move forward on making it available. (You can view this report at http://www.irs.gov/advocate/article/0,,id=252216,00.htmlis.)
In response, the IRS said, “Software testing revealed problems requiring correction prior to public launch, and the IRS had to delay the release. Because the IRS must balance a number of competing information technology needs, we cannot presently predict when Cyber Assistant will be available.”
So it looks as if the Cyber Assistant is on the back burner for now.
