Taxing Religion in South Africa

The cover story for this week's edition of the South African "Financial Mail" is entitled "The Business of God."  Many of the stories, such as Guarding the Guardians involve religious finances and tax exemptions.  The cover story, for example, describes the lack of transparency with regard to church finances and wealth, comparing that lack of transparency to the supposed transparency that exists in the U.S. and UK.  All nine stories -- dealing with the taxation and finances of different religions in South Africa -- can be obtained through either of the last two links.  It is interesting to see that other countries are struggling with the same issues that we struggle with.
