Very good overview of ICWA and the ways in which it attempts to help Indian families and tribes care for their members. This year, I worked with a Native family,in Chicago, whose tribe was denied jurisdiction, whose Indian grandmother was denied foster care custody, whose tribal members were denied foster care custody and who had their parental rights terminated. A great deal can and does go wrong before there is even a discussion of Gay and Lesbian adoption issues. If anyone has any suggestions out there, it would be greatly appreciated.
