Supreme Court Strikes Down Statute At Issue in "Crush Video" Case

The Supreme Court has ruled that a federal statute, 18 U.S. C. ยง48,which criminalizes "the commercial creation, sale, or possession of certain depictions of animal cruelty" is unconstitutional.  Robert Stevens had challenged his conviction under the statute for the sale of so-called "crush videos." The Court found the statute substantially overbroad.
