Longtime Kennedy friends and intimates, like Theodore (Ted) Sorensons, say the scripts have serious factual errors. In particular, one scene suggests that President Kennedy "came up with the idea for the Berlin Wall."

But the screenwriter for the series defends his work, and says it is based on nonfiction works including books by Seymour Hersh, Robert Dallek, and others. He also says he will require "bibliographic annotations and "legal vetting" before cameras roll.
