Canada May Open Up Cable Market

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommications Commission (CRTC) is considering whether to allow foreign networks, particularly US broadcasting, into the domestic cable market, to allow more diversity and more competition onto the Canadian scene, after years of promoting Canadian product. US shows from cable networks such as HBO and Nickleodeon might soon become fixtures on the Canadian small screen. Read more in a story from the Globe and Mail here (subscription required, free).
