Polish Court Convicts Author of Complicity in Death of Businessman
A Polish court has found author Krystian Bala guilty of involvement in the death of businessman Dariusz Janiszewski but acknowledged that it had no evidence to link him directly to the murder. Mr. Bala wrote a novel in which a woman dies in a manner similar to that in which Mr. Janiszewski was found dead. Other, circumstantial evidence also linked Mr. Bala to the crime. The motive appears to have been Mr. Bala's jealousy of Mr. Janiszewski's relationship with Mr. Bala's ex-wife. The court sentenced Mr. Bala to 25 years in prison. He said he will appeal.
