Hong Kong Journalist Loses Appeal
Ching Cheong, a journalist for the Singapore-based Straits Times, has lost his appeal in a PRC court and may serve up to five years in prison. In August, a lower court had found him guilty of spying for Taiwan. Mr. Ching's wife believes that he was really charged and convicted because he was on the trail of sensitive political stories.
