Documentary Filmmakers' Statement of Best Practices in Fair Use
The Center for Social Media and the Program on Intellectual Property and the Public Interest at the Washington College of Law, American University, have published a Statement of Best Practices in Fair Use for documentary filmmakers. Read more about the project at the Center here. The site also provides other helpful resources such as guides from Professors Peter Jaszi on what material may be characterized as "free use" and Peter Hirtle on how to find out what is in the public domain.
