slightly stitious

Boss I finally got around to watching the season premiere of "The Office." I love this show, in large part because the writers are so darned clever. Two lines still make me laugh:

(1) Michael (the boss, if you don't know the show) is concerned that the office is jinxed, but he's not letting it overwhelm him. He says, "I am not superstitious, but I am little stitious."

(2) Pam (the receptionist) walks in on Michael as he's changing into his running clothes. He's not fully dressed. Talking to a co-worker about the incident, she says, "The image of his dangling participle still burns in my eyes."

I am slightly stitious that I can never say the phrase "dangling participle" again in polite company.

You are on to something here! And so is a prominent employment lawyer who watches the show weekly. She was recently featured in the Wall Street Journal blogs for her work on her own blog, called "That's What She Said". The blog catalogs all the legal "sins" of "The Office" characters and tallies up, each week, how much it would cost to defend the suits brought against Michael Scott (and others).

It is very informative and thoughtful. Enjoy.
