Last Saturday morning during the LWI conference, at least a third of the audience attending the 9:00 a.m. session on the "beginners' track" were experienced legal writing professors, proving that you probably can teach old dogs some new tricks. Members of the legal writing faculty at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, including Linda Berger, Sandra Rierson, and Steve Berenson, presented Leaping from the Peer: Peer Reading and Writing Groups in Action. After explaining how they prepare their students for successful peer editing experiences, they showed a highly instructive videotape of student peer review groups in action. They also provided handouts they use to help prepare their students and keep them on task productively. Their handouts and bibliography are available at the LWI website.
