the power of narrative

If you watch the television show "Boston Legal" on Tuesday nights, the latest episode demonstrated the power of narrative.  Denny Crane (William Shatner, in his best over-the-top style) represented a defendant homeowner who had electrocuted a burglar.  By styling the defendant as an "American Homeowner," he got the potential jurors to buy into his story, resulting in a favorable plea bargain for his client.
