Legal sector loses 300 jobs in February

Yielding to the relatively large gains in January, the legal sector lost 300 jobs in February according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics as reported by the Wall Street Journal Law Blog:

The legal services sector shed 300 jobs in February, as the industry wobbles back to the higher employment levels before the recession, according to the U.S. Labor Department’s latest monthly report.

The total number of legal jobs now stands at 1,136,300, a preliminary, seasonally adjusted figure. February’s total is 6,400 above what it was a year ago, but it’s 43,700 short of the 10-year high of 1,180,000 set in May 2007.
