He's Going To Disney World
An attorney who had failed to appear for trial without good reason, resulting in the entry of a default against his client has been suspended for 60 days by the Maryland Court of Appeals. He also had the client sign away liability claims against him without advising the client to consult with independent counsel.
The attorney, who was admitted to practice in 2003, had been the subject of two prior reprimands and a 30 day suspension. He had previously been reprimanded for an having a client sign a release of claims against him.
Two judges would impose a 90-day suspension.
The reason for the missed court appearance? The attorney attended an American Bar Association conference in Orlanda, Florida rather than the scheduled trial.
