Maryland Suspends General Assembly Member

The Maryland Court of Appeals has imposed an indefinite suspension in a matter involving the attorney'a violation of a conditional diversion agreement.

The attorney agreed to a probation-type disposition in July 2010. Bar Counsel alleged non-compliance with the conditions and the attorney represented herself at the hearing.

The court recites the attorney's rather inept efforts on her own behalf in responding to Bar Counsel's charges.

The court notes that the attorney is a full time elected member of the Maryland General Assembly but that she did not assert that her lapses were due to legistlative duties. (Mike Frisch)
