Negligent Romance With Client Draws Consent Discipline

The Arizona Presiding Disciplinary Judge has accepted an agreement for discipline and imposed a suspension of 60 days followed by probation for two years. The probation will be monitored by two programs of the State Bar.

The attorney had failed to respond to the bar's investigation and "negligently failed to determine the existence of a conflict of interest by becoming romantically involved with his client that he was representing in a dissolution matter, and negligently failed to properly maintain his trust account in accordance with trust account rules."
