Plot To Maim, Murder Prosecutors Ends in Conviction

The Rhode Island Supreme Court has affirmed the conviction of a defendant charged with soliciting the murder of the state Attorney General and the felonious assault of the Assistant Attorney General who was responsible for his prosecution. The defendant had solicited persons while incarcerated and awaiting trial for the "horrific murder" of his spouse in the presence of their children. Four individuals testified about the solicitation. One said the defendant wanted the Attorney General killed and the Assistant's legs broken; another sais the defendant wanted the Attorney General shot twice, once for each of his children who were to be called as witnesses against him.
