Reinstatement Favored

The Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board has recommended that the Supreme Court reinstate an attorney who had been suspended for a year and a day. The misconduct involved knowingly assisting a judge (appropriately named Judge Green) in violating the regulation of campaign contributions. The judge had asked the lawyer to contribute to his niece's campaign for the state House of Representatives. The FBI was conducting surveillance and caught the misconduct on an audio and video recording.

The board agreed with a hearing committee that the attorney had established that reinstatement was appropriate. (Mike Frisch)
