"What's Up?"
The Maryland Court of Appeals has held that a criminal suspect was not subjected to custodial interrogation or its functional equivalent when a police officer greeting him with the words "What's up, Maurice?" The court affirmed the conclusion of the Court of Special Appeals in its review of a conviction for conspiracy to distribute cocaine and related offenses.
