Suspension For Third DUI
An attorney who had a long history of alcohol abuse was suspended for six months by the Iowa Supreme Court for his third alcohol-related driving offense. The court noted that the alcohol problem had not been found to affect his representation of clients, although he previously had been admonished for appearing in court under the influence. The court noted that there is no standard sanction for such misconduct but imposed a shorter period of suspnsion than the nine months proposed by its Attorney Disciplinary Board.
